Render Farm Home Let's Go Troubleshooting
Troubleshooting

The REBUSfarm Farminizer software is robust and reliable. The versions we make available for download have all stood up to heavy functional tests.

Known issues or problems:

Manager:

General issues:

My current project's state is 'Upload Error'.

This can have various reasons. The most common one is that you closed the Manager while uploading the project. It also occurs if anything goes wrong while uploading.
You can click "Upload" again and the Manager will resume uploading the project. Files which have already been uploaded will be skipped automatically.
If you still get this problem after re-uploading you should try deleting the project and exporting it again with the Farminizer plugin.

The state of my project does not seem correct or it's stuck to some state no matter what I do.

Try pressing "Refresh" from the menu. The Manager will then re-import the whole project list and synchronize each project's state with the REBUSfarm.

The Manager freezes when importing the projects.

Importing your projects may take time. There's a lot of communication work to do which can take up to several minutes (seriously). A coffee in the meantime should solve this problem.

Error- and log-messages:

"The path you specified could not be matched to a 3D application. Please choose the .exe or .app of the main application."

The Manager validates the 3D-App paths specified in the Settings dialog and only accepts files which have an original filename. Be sure to only select the original filename like "CINEMA 4D.exe". If the error persists make sure you didn't previously change the filename by manually renaming it. If so please restore the original filename like (like "CINEMA 4D.exe", "CINEMA 4D 64bit.exe", "CINEMA 4D.app", "3dsmax.exe"...).

"You can't change the settings while up/downloading" or
"You can't change the user while up/downloading"

When up- or downloading using the Manager there's an active file transfer via FTP. To hold the connection the logged-in user, the source and destination folder may not be changed during transfer. Thus logging out and changing the settings is blocked as this would interrupt the connection.

"Could not access local project folder. Please make sure that the directory exists and that you have access and write priviledges."

The Manager could not write to the local folder entered in the settings dialog. Possible reasons could be that the folder is currently unreachable (e.g. in case of a network path) or it was removed externally. Either way you have to re-specify a valid and writable folder in the settings dialog.

"There are no 3D applications to install the plugins to registered yet. Please add at least one application."

You pressed "Re-install plugins" without having assigned any installation paths for them. To establish the connection with your 3D apps and the Manager it is vital to register each of them in the settings dialog so that the appropriate plugins can be installed.

"Plugin files could not be written. All 3D applications have to be closed! Please check also if the paths are correct and that you have access and write priviledges."

As stated in the message text: when the Manager installs the plugins the paths registered in the settings dialog must be writable and the corresponding applications may not run simultaneously. If this message still appears after closing all apps try restarting the Manager and choose "Re-Install Plugins" from the menu.

"FarmManager: addjob failed"

You should never find this line in your log window. If you do so please contact REBUS to remedy the situation.

Plugins:

"Your plugin is outdated, please close your application and reinstall plugin from Manager!"

This occurs when the main Manager software has been updated successfully but the plugins could not be replaced properly. Try running "Re-Install Plugins" from the Manager's main menu. If the problem persists make sure that the corresponding 3D application is registered properly in the Manager's settings dialog.

Plugin-Installation:

Lightwave

To install the Lightwave Farminizer Plugin select "Utilities -> Add Plugins"  and then choose the appropriate file at the directory "Plugins/rebus" at your Lightwave installation path.

Example:

Windows 32bit: c:\Program Files\Newtek\Lightwave\Plugins\rebus\farm.p     or ...\farm64.p for Win 64bit

MacOs: /Applications/lightwave.app/rebus/farm.bundle

After that the plugin is accessible via "Additional -> Rebus Farminizer"

Modo

To run the Farminizer Plugin in Modo please enter the following in the command line (using your installation path of course):

@c:\Program Files\Luxology\modo\rebus\rebus.py

or under MacOS

@/Applications/modo.app/rebus/rebus.py

Of course you can also select "System -> Form Editor" to create a button for this.
